What is a World Trade Center?
Anchored by a unique combination of tenants and visitors, a World Trade Center is a bustling hub of import and export activity. Each of the nearly 313 World Trade Centers in over 300 cities and approximately 100 countries are backed by the World Trade Center Association, whose founding principles include: encouraging the expansion of world trade, promoting international business relationships and understanding among nations, and fostering increased participation in world trade by industrializing nations.
Why Establish a World Trade Center in Utah?
Last year Utah exports were over $6 billion. Currently, international trade accounts for nearly 20 percent of all Utah manufacturing job, and over 2,100 companies export – 83 percent of which are small and medium sized businesses.
A survey of Utah Business involved in global trade showed that a World Trade Center in Utah would be useful in helping them grow their trade by providing:
- Trade leads and matchmaking opportunities
- Trade information and training
- Efficiencies of co-locating on one facility all Federal, State and local economic agencies dealing in global trade
A licensed World Trade Center can maximize the international trade assets of Utah’s citizens, the unique attributes of its workforce, its governor and its colleges and universities.
