Harold David Burton (born 25 April 1938) has been the thirteenth Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since January 1, 1996. He has been a general authority of the Church since October 1992.
Bishop Burton was presented with the Utah Youth Village Helping Hand Award for his “extraordinary love and support to children” and for his “years of unparalleled service and commitment to the local community in Utah and to the betterment of communities worldwide,” according to Eric Bjorklund, president of the Utah Youth Village. Several other local agencies also praised Bishop Burton and the Church for its ongoing worldwide humanitarian efforts.
