International producer John Corser launched the premier issue of FilmUtah Magazine during Sundance Film Festival as one component of a master plan to bring more full length feature films to Utah. Corser did his first film project in Nicaragua, followed by other films in Japan, Taiwan and China. Since then he has produced or directed projects in over 20 countries and all over the U.S. While most of his projects originated in Los Angeles, when he met his future wife, and followed her to Utah – he discovered the amazing film resources in Utah, and would like the rest of the film world to discover it as well.
“I was stunned when I discovered how professional and experienced the crews are here in Utah” says Corser. In meetings with the Utah Film Commission, he learned even more about Utah’s exceptional history (our state has been featured in over 800 films), about the significant benefits of a competitive20% tax incentive and other cash rebates, and our amazing natural beauty and diverse topography, all of which make Utah an incredibly film friendly state.
