In June, Global Utah featured an article about the recent Piura Government delegation visit to Utah, during which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed for the purpose of further developing cultural understanding, cooperation, and promoting international trade between the State of Utah and the Piura Region of Peru (click here for article). To continue this collaboration, on September 16, 2009, Utah business representatives held a video conference with President Cesar Trelles Lara and members of his economic development team of the Piura Region of Peru. The focus of the video conference was opportunities for public and private investment in the Piura region. Following a warm welcome by President Lara, an overview of economic development projects was offered by Humberto Correa Cánova, Economist and General Manager, Alto Piura Project. Next, Mr. Carlos Sanchez Delgado, General Manager of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Piura spoke on the ways the Chamber reaches out to its members and the business community at large.
