To optimize the network of World Trade Centers, and learn from our colleagues in the Rocky Mountain region, the entire office of the World Trade Center Utah made a one day visit to the World Trade Center in Denver, Colorado this past week. We discussed their extensive programming on a variety of global business topics, and also learned more about their Rocky Mountain World Trade Center Institute which offers the comprehensive Certificate in International Trade. One of the plans initiated with WTC-Denver is to alert each other to upcoming international visitors so that both states can generate opportunities for our companies to meet with these valuable resources.

Lew Cramer, President & CEO WTCU & Dale Eisler, Consul General of Canada
Since the WTC-Denver is ideally co-located with the U.S. Commercial Service, Export Assistance Center and the U.S. Small Business Administration, International Trade Programs, we visited their offices and had an excellent exchange of information with their staff. We also took advantage of the visit to meet with several members of the Canadian Consulate, including Dale Eisler, the Consul General of Canada. Our final stop was the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade where we met with both the Director and the Trade and Investment Advisor for the Americas region. Since Craig Peterson, Executive Director of the Utah Governor’s Office of International Trade & Diplomacy had joined the WTCU on this visit, he was able to compare notes with Colorado about trade statistics and activity. Much to our surprise, Utah’s overall export numbers exceeded that of Colorado by almost 30%.
Overall, it was an exceptionally valuable visit and we plan to continue the dialogue with WTC-Denver and our other partners in world trade.
