A TV Tokyo news team will be visiting cities along the Wasatch Front beginning April 14 through April 16 to give their viewers a first-hand look at Designer HomeTending’s operations in Utah.
Designer HomeTending, a leading company of its kind in the United States, recently caught the interest of TV Tokyo news producers when they were reviewing the company’s media coverage. Because of Designer HomeTending’s unique, free temporary occupant and staging services for owners, realtors and builders of vacant homes for sale, TV Tokyo decided to send a news team from its broadcast headquarters in Japan.
“Our viewers continue to follow the developments of the housing crisis and recession in the United States,” said David Dreyfus, TV Tokyo news producer. “The American economy and lifestyles are major topics of discussion and interest to our viewers. When we heard that Designer HomeTending was working to solve some of the effects of the housing crisis we knew this was something we wanted to cover and our viewers wanted to know about.”
Designer HomeTending is the idea and proven business model of founder, Cathy Cardenas, who started the company in Boise during 2006. Since then her services of providing experienced, live-in managers to care for previously vacant homes for sale, has grown to operations in Salt Lake, Boise ,Los Angeles, Long Beach, Orange County, Sacramento, and San Francisco .
The service is No Cost to homeowners, real estate professionals or builders and home tenders can live in and take care of high-end homes for the rental fee of a studio apartment. Cardenas maintains that homes can sell 30 to 60 percent faster if professional staged and cared for by subcontracted home tenders.
“Our concept has proven to be popular here in Utah and in other markets where people are unfortunately continuing to experience the effects of the economic and housing downturn,” says Cardenas, Designer HomeTending Founder and CEO. “Instead of showing a vacant, undecorated home, realtors now have a home to market with a model home look and feel.”
Home tenders, who are approved by the company through an application, reference and interview process, pay Designer HomeTending a small fee to reside in homes on a temporary basis. Upon move in, they are assisted by a professional home stager to decorate the home with their furnishings and create greater “curb” appeal.
The home tending service is also useful should there be a mishap in the home, such as a burst pipe, leaking roof and prevents vandalism. Home tenders pay all utilities, maintain yards, gardens, pools and handle snow removal. Designer HomeTending has placed home tenders into a wide range of properties from entry- level townhouses to elegant estate homes listed at $3+ million. Builders are also using the service to help sell their inventory of new construction and custom homes that have been languishing on the market.
